contour width with Stroke style and disable stroke(?)

Postby Alexxandro » Sun May 31, 2009 3:27 am

Hello !
I hope to explain well:
I have to create a rainbow
I must also increase the contour arcs during cloning.
How ever, when cloning in range of each contour arc sinoglo, remains at 1 px?

I'm not sure that I understood exactly what you ask but If you are using clones and want to change their stroke with, well you can't, that's why they are clones, they imitate their original. You need to duplicate instead of clone to have different stroke widths.

To create the rainbow with several objects you can use the Path > Offset or Path > Dynamic offset to create different colors. But you can also create a rainbow in one object using multi-stop radial gradient as fill ;)

I follow this tutorial
http://art.vinayraikar.com/2008/01/illu ... lones.html
You can change thickness contour, instead of me always seems to 1 px

That tutorial isn't changing the stroke, it's changing the arcs scale. In the screenshot on that page, take note of the section where the active tab is "Scale".

changed the width to 3.342 px.
I did not understand why when clone is not going to keep this thickness

Having cloned the curve, not to remain at 3.3 stroke

I understand now. I'm playing with the dev build and none of the numbers add up when it comes to the stroke thickness when you follow that tutorial. There's an option that can toggle if strokes should scale or not when scaling an object, but it doesn't seem to apply to clones. The reported stroke thickness of a clone is not correct--but when you unlink the clone it does appear correctly.

For the purpose of that tutorial, I don't think it matters that the stroke thickness changes slightly as the clones shrink.
