Calligraphy Tool - Help.

Postby Googie » Sat Oct 15, 2011 3:46 pm

Hello Guys,

I have recently installed Inkscape once I bought my Wacom Bamboo graphics tablet. I have made a drawing with Calligraphy and I cant seem to get the same settings that were in my drawing. The Drawing is:

Could anyone please help me with the settings so that I can continue drawing in the same style.

Many Thanks Guys,

Matt.

Welcome Matt!

I don't use the Calligraphy tool very much, and I don't have or use a tablet. But just by observation and trial and error, I would guess the settings would be close to this:

  • width 35 to 40
  • pressure sensitivity is on or off, whatever you prefer
  • I'm not sure what the next setting does, but the Guide probably explains it (Help menu > Inkscape manual, with internet connection)
  • thinning might not apply, but I would say not more than 10 (by the looks of your sample image)
  • angle 60
  • fixation 90 to 100
  • caps 0
  • tremor 0
  • wiggle 0
  • mass might be more of a personal preference thing -- it sort of slows down your stroke (the higher value, the slower it draws) I like it because it helps me make smoother strokes with a mouse.

Someone who uses the Calligraphy tool with a tablet might have more detailed tips than me, though, and certainly more informed advice. But this should get you started :D
