I'm really not sure what happened, since it used to work perfectly fine. So I'm assuming that somehow I accidentally changed a setting or something. The problem is that in the past I could click on a segment of line in between nodes, and drag it, or bend it into an arc shape if need be. Now it won't let me even select or drag the section of line at all. The only way I can smooth between nodes is to use the "make the selected nodes auto-smooth" technique. But even then I can't drag the little bars (Can't remember what they're called) that come off a node to alter the angle. I have a screen shot below to show the problem. I clearly have an arc that was achieved with the auto smooth feature, but as you can see I've selected one of those bars coming off of the node, in order to change the angle of the arc, and I've completely altered the natural position. However, the arc itself hasn't changed at all. It's like I have no control over the lines.

I did try re-installing inkscape as well, and it didn't fix the problem.
