I downloaded Inkscape-0.48.2-1 on my mac.
I have OS X 10.7.5
When I want to open it, I have a pop up window that say: It's impossible to open it. It's not recognized.

What can I do?

There are some special instructions for using Inkscape on a Mac. Since I don't use a Mac, I can't explain it very well. But here's the FAQ info about it: http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php ... fic_issues. If none of that solves your problem, please post the exact error message.

I have the same software BUT I started in earlier versions, so it's not exactly the same environment. I take it you've tried uninstalling and re-installing Inkscape? I'll double-check my Inkscape version when I get home.

Could you have possibly downloaded the wrong file? I don't know which kind Macs use, but I know that it does matter.

Sounds like some bad download. Are you downloading from the official inkscape download page or some other place?
By the way the official inkscape download says the osx is a 0.48.4 but instead the file says it's 0.48.2 but actually when you install it it is 0.48.0. So that's all very curious and looks like no recent build has been done or something's screwed up with that.
Make sure you have downloaded and installed XQuartz, which is available from Apple. It's not installed with OSX by default, you have to download it.

The only way to get 0.48.4 on a Mac is to compile it or use Macports. I guess they've been having a hard time packing the source code for Macs, and that's why it hasn't been included in the last couple of releases.

@Brynn, that doesn't explain though that the filename is 0.48.2 when it's actually 0.48.0 when you install it. I've asked the question and asked for instructions on compiling for mac on the google+ dev talk page.

Hhmm, no, I guess not.... I don't have an answer for that (and frankly I'm afraid to ask -- it seems to be a sensitive subject, why Inkscape hasn't been packaged for Macs lately). Good luck. All the info I know comes from the website: http://inkscape.org/index.php
