dynamic picture based on xls source

Postby Hammerhead » Wed Sep 07, 2011 9:05 pm

Hello!

I have a problem to resolve and cant move forward with it.

My target is to create an image of a map with various teritories. Each teritorry has specifics what i want to show in the map with color and/or hatch to make it more visual.
But those specifics are changing often.
So it is possible to create an image with Inksckape what reads those changing specific from an xls or other similar format files and change the colors and/or hatch information dynamicly?

Thank you for your interest to my problem
Regards:
Ray

You can use http://wiki.colivre.net/Aurium/InkscapeGenerator to generate file(s) with data from a CSV file; although designed to make multiple files at once there is nothing stopping you from creating a template file with a lot of variables.

Thank you very much. I created a test file to see I can resolve the task with it or not and it worked fine.
Now time to do the rest of the work :)
Aurélio did a great job with this extension.
Thx again

i realize it's not for everyone..however since svg inkscape files are valid xml, you can use xslt or other xml transform packages to do a heap of scripted transformations. especially useful for when you need many files done
