Tutorial on my blog for using Inkscape (plus some photo editing software if you have it) to convert a photo into a series of open paths to be drawn with a digital diecutter (pen plotter).

Photo to sketch technique
Re: Photo to sketch technique
Hhmmm.....cleversomeday? I say clever now!
I have a question. Although before I ask, I should say that I'm not familiar with the Eggbot extension and use...or cutter/plotters. I'm just curious if Inkscape's Hatch LPE could be used for the hatching.

Hi Brynn,
Unfortunately the LPE hatching doesn't work on the complex paths with internal subpaths etc that are generated by the traces of photographic content. I would love to have all those extra controls, not to mention Live Preview, but for now I'm happy to have an alternate tool that I can use.
