Jpg transparency

Postby TengoKbailar » Thu Jan 15, 2015 1:38 pm

Hi,
I have imported a jpg as a background on layer 1 for a very simple flyer with words on layer 2.
When I change the opacity the jpg becomes dull. Is there a way to make it less bold without losing the colours?
Thanks

Michael

Hi.

You can modify the raster images colour by an extension or by a filter.
I haven't tried any of those, would probably use gimp instead to change the colours as it is more of a raster editor job.

TengoKbailar - I cannot understand what you're trying to do.
Do you have an layer on top of the JPG, and trying to make that layer transparent. Or do you try to make the jpg itself transparent.

If you want to make the jpg transparent, I'll recomend you use Gimp. Just remember to export to PNG as jpg images doesn't support transparency.

You use a jpg as your background and you want some transparency to it?
When you set the picture's opacity down all of it will be more or less transparent.

If you want to highlight parts of the picture you'll need to either mask parts out or clip what you want to preserve.

If you are uncertain about fileformats and their transparency only gif's and png's support that as far as I know ( and I am here to learn too ).

Maybe this could be a help for you: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transparency_%28graphic%29
