Editing gradient of an object below another

Postby Uktrunie » Mon Nov 29, 2010 2:57 am

Hi all,

I constantly have the same problem, over and over and it's kind of a frustration, maybe someone could throw me a bone.

When editing a gradient, if I want to add a new stop, I just double click the "line" and that's it. A new stop is added right there. But that has one little problem, if the object I'm touching is below another, then my gradient tool "switches" to the top object, and I end up editing an object that I didn't want to modify. Not a big deal, I can always go to the gradient dialog and click "add", that's the end of the problem, but I would want to know if there's a way to do it with the mouse, in place, just like you can do when your object is on top.

Any ideas? Suggestion?

Thank you all for your time.

You can temporarily bring the object to front, edit the gradient and send it back again.

It's already reported on-canvas gradient editor focus problems https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/179830

Oh, I see. Thanks prkos. Looks like I'll have to get used to this... :(
