save to png with non-white background

Postby TheAsarya » Wed Mar 17, 2010 8:12 am

apologies for the newb question. i have read other forum posts that seem to be related with no success.

every time I save my svg to png it has a white background. I want it to be transparent. I have already checked: -

- that document properties>page>background alpha is set to zero
- that there is no extra white box in the document

To compare, I also tried setting the background to a random colour with the alpha set to maximum. Saving a png from this configuration still results in a white background. i am viewing the files in firefox. what else could i be doing wrong?

are you doing "save as" and choosing .png, or are you doing "export bitmap"?

I've tried with both transparent and set backgrounds, and it's worked for me.

Are you exporting the whole page as PNG? If you export just the selected object(s), the background will be transparent.

thanks for the replies. Indeed the export option works fine. I was using 'save as'.
