How to create this as a vector file?

Postby Chris8080 » Wed Sep 18, 2013 10:26 am

Hi,

I would like to create something like a tree with .. spirals as branches.
But it the whole stemm should be like .. one object/shape so I can't use spiral tool, I guess?
How would you get this working?

Thanks
Chris

My personal choice would be to draw the branches using the Bézier tool in Spiro mode, using one of the triangle options from the Shape menu (or setting up a suitable path for the "From clipboard" option). The trunk I would draw as a separate object. You could then either group the parts together, or use object-to-path on the branches and union them with the trunk to form a single path (or combine them to for a single path made up of sub-paths).

You may still end up doing some node editing to get the effect you're looking for, but that approach should at least give you a good starting point.
