Ancient laptop user, whose been persuaded by his daughter to build some electronic kit, via a home built cnc wood router, finally given in, and is using Inkscape/Ubuntu 12.04 to mill the printed circuit board.
Well, that's the idea, anyway, even though he'd much rather be trying to learn to play the hammer dulcimer recently acquired and restored.
The 'greybeard' is now solid white, but that didn't seem reason enough to change the username

Welcome John!
I saw your message about the Gcode extension. I don't know anything about that, but I'm sure someone will. "snow covered Norfol UK" sounds bone chilling cold to me! Where I live is often snow covered, but without the humidity. Although I guess after a certain point, cold is just cold....brrr...

Well, I know nothing about Gcode either, but wanted to say welcome, you'll love Inkscape once you get to know it. Also, you are not alone being an oldie (but goodie!). Your post also got my attention because of being from Norfolk, UK, as I'm originally from Norfolk, Virginia (USA). My ancestors were some of the first to come over from the UK.
oh, and we're expecting snow on friday, which I can do without, we're also in a deep freeze today, but luckily the President's inaugural activities weren't so cold (I'm in the Washington, DC metro area, but in MD, we're close enough in that when the jet fighters, F-18's I think, went around the air space to protect him, they flew over our house)!

Hi Flamingolady from slightly warmer Norfolk UK.
Fully understand the effects of fighters over the house ! We're on the flight path of the local RAF station, and they've taken to standing on their tail pipes when they're practicing overhead.
The noise becomes a physical hammer blow.
But there you go.
John
