Why, is IE7 supposed to display SVG's?
It's not that I'm overly worried about security, it's just the only real problem with it not being supported, is that there won't be fixes for new security issues. I think that's a legitimate concern....perhaps encountering a real security issue is not a likely scenario, but definitely legitimate.

Yeah, I may have to breake down and get Firefox. I'm just curious if there are any other options.

Renesis player player is the only option for IE.

I doubt MS will ever support SVG as it somewhat competes with Silverlight. Likewise, Adobe created the SVG viewer to compete with Flash, but now it owns Flash it's dropping support for SVG.

As long as IE is the dominent browser SVG will only have very limited success as an Open Source format. Choose your browser

IE7 is ok (much better security and web standards compliance) but it seems not even IE8 will support SVG.

I wonder what could be done with Inkview, maybe a developer could shed some light.

IE7 is a legacy browser. Get Firefox, Opera or Chrome.

IE8 will be somewhat like Firefox 1.5. Just a bit more glitchy and without SVG support. It's not even released and already lagging behind.

I'm not understanding how Flash and the SVG Viewer compete. I suppose if the SVG is animated, it's a little like Flash. All I understand about Flash, is that it's "active content".

Well if Flash and the SVG Viewer are competitive products, why couldn't Flash be used to view SVGs? No one mentioned that, so I'm guessing it can't be done....which again leads me to wonder how they compete.

Active content!? That phrase sounds like marketing fluff

A "competing" format does not mean its a "compatible" format. It is not in the best interest of a commercial company to adopt open formats.
