My first Inkscape work

Postby seothen » Tue Sep 10, 2013 3:19 am

Hello, I'm new here and have to I'm loving Inkscape. I wasn't sure if I should put my first piece in Finished or WIP (because I'm done working on it even though the image clearly isn't done yet).

Feedback and advice are very welcome. Design based off of Vince Martin's Rifts' imagery.

Welcome aboard!

That looks great for a first work on inkscape.
You could improve the look a bit by changing the linear gradients to radial ones in my opinion.

On the armor I'm wondering how it could be put on, or what would be the benefits of wearing it.
Especially the shoulder. What are those spikes for? Why to protect the shoulders the most?

Thanks very much, I'll experiment next time with the radial gradients - they'll like work better with the curved objects.

As far as the stylization goes, I should have put this in the description above (it's on my blog and dA site, and I'll add it here), this is based off of Vince Martin's Rifts works. He did these fantastical, absurd designs that weren't very practical but looked pretty amazing.
