Drawing Multiple Circles

Postby JAMBUCH » Fri Oct 09, 2009 7:45 am

How do I uses the elips tool to draw multiple circles of fixed diameter and have the center of the circle be snaped to a grid crossing?

When I use CNTL + Shift to draw a circle and then select the circle to lock the H & W and enter the desired diameter whitch is different from what I drew. The center point of the circle moves.

Now I would like to draw multiple circles with the same diameter as the previous circle.

Thanks

Jim

Select Object, Right Click > Duplicate

Hold down Left mouse and Drag duplicated Object away

You're going to have trouble manually specifying the height and width, because that always sizes the object by moving the right and bottom sides. Like you said, it doesn't resize the object in every direction, so the center will move. I don't know if there's a to enter exact dimensions but keep the object's center in the same spot. You'd have to reposition the object afterward.

If you're doing a bunch of circles of the same size, use the Spacebar stamp. Select the object you want, drag it to where you want a copy and press Space while keeping the mouse button held. Then drag away and do another. If the circles shouldn't be the same size, you've got a lot of tedious work ahead. Sorry.

I'm not clear on what you're trying to do, but I wonder if the Tiled Clones dialog might help (Edit menu)? Just a thought :)
