Copy Paste Text on Path

Postby Chemistpp » Fri Jun 24, 2016 12:44 am

I have text that I want to form an arc. I make the text. I create a circle, I then highlight both and select text->put on path. Fantastic. I can then put the text where I want it after proper rotation.

The issue is when I want to copy/paste the entire figure. The text on path gets move to random locations far away from the paste location. It also sometimes changes the arcing.

It's like the path disappears, but I turn the path transparent and put it overlaying my figure, so when I copy/paste, I assumed it was also.

I experimented by leaving the path visible and off the figure. I just translate my text to the figure after arcing it with the path. Whether or not the path gets copied and pasted seems to have no outcome on this behavior. It's just a pita to have to repath the text everytime. Is there any easier way to do this? Am I doing something wrong?

Hi.

Try grouping the text on path (Ctrl+G) and duplicate (Ctrl+D), move the group instead.

Hey Thanks! Grouping them seemed to do the trick. xD It's a pretty busy figure with lottsa objects and I was making different versions where small parts were moved so I never thought to group it because I'd just have had to ungroup it after the paste. I didn't think that would have an effect on placement of pasting and what not.

Really appreciate the quick response.

For the note you can also enter the group by Ctrl+Enter or double clicking (Ctrl+Backspace for exiting it) for editing.

Like, instead of duplicating you can use cloning of the group that can be more handy at times -adding more objects to the parent group later etc.
