Hello,
I realized business cards with inkscape, with text and logo.
When I print the cards, my printer color laser produces a business card with the text and the logo which are not clear (pixellised).
I tried to find regulations to resolve the problem, but I found nothing.
I also made a copy/paste in word, of my business card, and in that case, it is not pixellised and very regular, but the scale is not any more preserved.
Somebody can direct me to resolve the problem with inkscape ?
Many thanks in advance, sorry for my english,
Chihuahua

Re: Pixellised printing result with inkscape

Welcome Chihuahua!
I don't think the problem can be solved with Inkscape. Inkscape will allow you to scale objects (increase or decrease size)without pixellation . And as a vector graphics editor, it's impossible for images made entirely with Inkscape to become pixellated, as long as they remain in the SVG format.
If you export or convert to PNG or other raster format, and then scale them, they can and usually will become pixelated.
After you've finished the image in Inkscape, what do you do next? Do you export or save in another format? As long as you don't scale it after exporting, it should print perfectly. If you do need to scale it, do it before exporting or converting to another format.
But if you're not scaling it, before printing, I'm thinking it must be a problem with the printer. Maybe someone else will know more?

Hello,
Thanks for answer.
I print it directely from inkscape, without exporting it.
When I print the same document after having made a copy paste in microsoft word for exemple, the print result is perfect ???
Thank you for your help,
Chihuahua

Hello,
I just made a test. With another inkscape file, it was no problem : no pixellisation.
But with my professional card, I always have the pixellisation, also if I copy/paste it in the file that functions.
I give you a copy of the file with the problem of pixellisation when I print.
Thanks in advance,
Chihuahua

Re: Pixellised printing result with inkscape
Well even though your original presentation of the problem soundend like a printer issue, it does now sound like it might be something in this particular Inkscape file that's causing the printing problem.
When you made the test with another Inkscape file that printed without pixelization, was it an entirely different image? Because I was thinking you might be able to copy/paste the business card image into a new Inkscape document. I don't know if the copy/paste will transfer the problem to the new file or not, but it might help someone to identify the culprit.
I'm not really sure what to look for, so maybe someone else can investigate? Plus, I don't even have a printer connected to this computer.
In any case, I'm glad you found a way to print successfully, for the moment

M. Delon! Let me begin by saying I love your movies! Le Samourai! Fabulous! Le Cercle rouge! Amazing! L'eclisse! The very pinnacle of the art of acting! And now you reveal a hitherto unknown sideline as a veterinarian!
Anyway, here is the simple answer to your problem. You have used a filter on all of your text, although I really don't think it does anything useful. However, what it does do is convert your vector text into raster when printing from Inkscape! Because your card is very small the pixelization becomes apparent. When you import it into word, the application ignores the filtration, and therefore your text is printed as vectors, thereby preserving sharpness.
My advice - select all, and in the filter menu click remove filters. If you have to modify the color of vector objects and text use the fill and stroke dialog.
Now your cards should print perfectly.
I did this for you, but one of the fonts you used, Arial narrow, is not one that I have, and therefore Inkscape substituted sans for it. But anyway you can see what happens without the filters. Probably if you don't have sans your system will either restore the arial narrow or pick something close to it.
BTW the text in the bottom left (CABINET VETERINAIRE) was converted to paths by you at some point so it still looks like your original font. If you plan to send this file to be printed anywhere besides your printer, I recommend you do this step to all your text. Or save the file as pdf...

Off topic:
As an item of interest to other readers, selecting all and doing remove filters followed by vacuum defs does not remove the filter(s) from the defs section of the svg... I had to open the file in a text editor and delete it manually. I would expect vacuum defs to remove all unused filters... In addition, the style of the converted to paths text retains the original font name from before the conversion! Pretty cool, in a case like this if you want to retype it..- Attachments
