multiple copy of an object to rectangular grid

Postby str8da » Tue Nov 09, 2010 6:06 am

Hallo, I'm new at Inkscape. My question:
How do I do multiple copy of an object and place them to grid?
Example my old way:
1/ I make a simple crosshair
2/ I set a grid
3/ I copy the crosshair to clipboard
4/ I paste it to every x=12 times and every y=4 times
This picture shows what I get http://sklad.obrazku.cz/obr539949_g5981.png

Is there any way how to do multiple copy and place them to grid? Instead of manual hardwork.
Thank you

Try Rows and Columns feature under Object menu.

Tiled clones can also be placed in precise grids, later you can unlink clones if needed. Look them up in the guide.

And you can always help yourself by turning on Grid (#), so you can position the objects quickly and precisely.
