yes - in this case i've been working from a photography. i think its a simple way to create a good svg. its surprising that buildung up a picture like that is similar to the techniques of grand masters in painting eg. oil painting like rembrandt - where you are going layer by layer too, setting up the lights at last. its a littlebit tricky to guess light and shadow surfaces depending on the quality of the photo. from there and with a sensitive feeling for light and shadow its a small step to the next level doing good pics from the scratch. i am doing an oilpainting at this time and the impact of knowledge working with inkscape (especially light and shadow layers) on the creation of a classic oilpainting is truly amazing. working with inkscape has been a huge step forward in many cases of being creative within the www.
