Hi,
I'm a newbie, so forgive me if my question is too stupid.
I drew a cylinder (drew an ellipse and two lines) and a rectangle. I moved the ellipse over one side of the rectangle and I want it to hide the line it is over. How can I do that? attached.
Regards,
Ittay

There are many ways, Here is a bad way:

It is bad, but it demonstrates fills and z-order.
Download this svg and pick it apart in Inkscape.
Explore the manual, it is fun to try the techniques.

Have a nice day.
I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), 64 bit win8.1
The Inkscape manual has lots of helpful info! http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/

Here is another version using open paths:

Download and view in Inkscape.
The cylinder and rectangle in the earlier version were used to create guides. (Shift+G)
Fills were turned off and the paths were opened by deleting line segments.
The bottom of the rectangle was opened by adding nodes to the path at guide intersections and deleting the line segment between them.
