Scenario
I add various docks. Such as Layers and Fill/Stroke or Align Then Exit Inkscape.
I re-start Inkscape and there is no dock showing. I want to keep those docks for future sessions until I explicitly close them.
Can anybody help me?
Kubuntu/KDE/Inkscape 0.48.4 r9939 Recent fresh install.
I checked: Settings - Windows - Save Window Geometry for each document = ON
I did not find any (hidden) .inkscape folder where my settings would be stored. I wanted to delete it to be sure old settings are not causing the problem.
Dock always closed at start up. Help needed. (solved)

Hi ianp5a,
What you've experienced is the normal behavior of Inkscape, at least in the current stable version. I think I heard that they stay open, in the development version....but whatever I'm thinking of was a while ago, and I'm not positive it's the same thing. But easy enough to install the dev version and try it out. A lot of people use it regularly, and consider it stable enough for them. (Personally, I don't, but who knows, you might
)
FYI, your personal settings are stored in the preferences.xml file. I use Windows, so unfortunately, I can't tell you exactly where to find it in kubuntu. If you can't find it, just reply to that effect, and hopefully someone who knows can tell you. You can't make the dialogs (docked or not) stay open by editing the file. Or by deleting it and reinstalling. But just for future reference. (It's not hidden.)

Re: Dock always closed at start up. Help needed.
Thanks a lot.
Yes I've been using the development version for a while. It was too crashy so I've come back to the normal version.
Sigh. I open and close Inkscape a lot. So It makes it very tedious.
