Varying line/brushstroke opacity (with background grayscale)

Postby videohead » Wed Nov 10, 2010 1:49 am

Hi,

New to the forum. 'Love the new inkscape. I would like to draw a path or brush stroke whose opacity depends on the depth of a background grayscale image. Can this be done in inkscape?

Thanks.

Calligraphy tool has a Trace setting although it doesn't influence the stroke opacity, and you can influence Tiled clones according to the background.

But you can draw your stroke or several strokes first and then use that grayscale image as a mask, and then your strokes will have the opacity of the grayscale level of the image! Ta-da! (Perhaps, if that's what you want...)
Your mind is what you think it is.

That's so crazy, it just might work. Thanks :D
