Teared Fairy

Postby Alexandra » Mon Sep 29, 2008 3:45 am

its my Fairy, i love it...

http://www.petaimg.com/uploads/1222696924.png

thats my first drawing on inkscape, before i was drawing on it stupidly... just to have more fun!

i stared my painting on ready made pencil picture from deviantart.com, with my addition of colours and shadows..
but i discovert that i should draw a background too, something vital!!.. until i want to teach myself to use GIMP.

too happy to know your opinion! :D

Wow. That's beautiful. It looks painted--you would never guess it's a vector. I like the extra detail you added.

If you post it on DA, put a link here so I can fav it :)

Haha, I have already fav'ed the original lineart long time ago (in fact it might be the first one). My first impression is that the level of details is not consistent, namely, the feathers are too detailed compared to the rest of the picture. I think if you lower the contrast or apply some blur it'd look more natural. Also, her feet are a bit weird, especially that grey "corner" at her ankle. But overall, she's a stunning beauty!

If you don't mind some criticism, I agree with bwansy's commment about the feathers being styled to differently to the rest of the drawing. I also feel the bones of the wing should blend with the features and that it could benefit from some visual seperation between the left and right wings.

Great use of Inkscape! I agree with everyone else, either put some more detail in the whole image or tone down the feathers

microUgly, i can't put it on DeviantaArt, because the original pictures isn't mine. you can fav the original one. :D

i agree with all, the feathers looks more detailed if you look closely to rest of the picture and examine it, its because i didn't putted any shadows on them. the stroke of the feathers are too bold and the white colour makes them more visible to the eye.
a girl told me about the wings, that they looked attached on the back of the fairy. and the bones of the wings should be more bigger from the first. i agreed her about the first criticism. :P

can anyone help me what to do to make a benefit between the right wing and the left one? i tried to add a bold white stoke, but it didn't helped.

i like this mr.green

As long as the original artist says it's ok, it's ok :) If you haven't already you should ask. You'll find most artists will be flattered and only require you to credit them in the comments.

I would make the right wing darker and more shadowed than the left wing.
