Question: I have a black (or another colored) rectangle. I'd like one side to be left alone. The other three sides should fade to white at the edges.
How would I achieve this? I can do basic linear/radial gradients, but am not sure how to do this effect.
3-sided gradient
Re: 3-sided gradient
1. Duplicate black rectangle twice.
2. Apply radial gradient going to white at edges to top rectangle.
3. Move gradient rectangle down in z-order.
4. Apply linear gradient to top rectangle going from black to white, with black on the side that you do not want to have the radial gradient.
5. Select the two gradient rectangles and do Object>Mask>set. The original black rectangle should now show through as if the radial gradient is not applied to the left side.
Hope this works for you.
