Version .48.3 and trunk version cause X to restart

Postby rdlemaster » Sun Oct 28, 2012 3:37 pm

I've seen this in the mainstream version for Ubuntu 12.10 and I just installed inkscape-trunk to see if the issue still exists.
What I'm seeing is that, if I start Inkscape then click either the left or middle mouse button over the canvas area of the window,
the app dies and immediately restarts X on my machine making me have to login again.

I'm running Ubuntu 12.10 amd64 build. I'm curious as to whether this is known and there is a work-around, or if I should file
it as a bug.

Any thoughts?

I experience the same problem and a friend of mine as well. We both have relatively new Lenovo Thinkpads, maybe it is related to the xorg-intel driver. I have not managed to solve the problem, but I have subscribed to several bugs on launchpad which could be related. Most promising seems this one:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... ug/1023004

But the bug is 6 months old and devs claim a fix has been released. I would open a new bug report, but can't get Xorg to produce a core dump. Any help on this is welcome, as this completely breaks inkscape for me, on a fresh install with most recent Ubuntu (maybe more people have the same issue).

Cheers!
