Start-Up Assistance

Postby rock_monkey13 » Thu Aug 22, 2013 3:54 am

I recently downloaded Inkscape for my Macbook Pro, running on MacOSX 10.8.4. When I attempt to open the application the image briefly appears in the dock and then disappears and it does not open.

The message I receive in the command prompt is:

Warning: AppleCollationOrder setting not found, using AppleLocale.
Setting Language: .UTF-8

(process:412): Gtk-WARNING **: Locale not supported by C library.
Using the fallback 'C' locale.
Nothing to do!
logout

[Process completed]

Can anyone assist me?

Did you install XQuartz, and log out and back in (or reboot) to properly finish the installation of XQuartz?

Hello all,

I have found this post as I'm looking for help on installing Inkscape on my new MacBook Pro OS X 10.8.5
I have used Inkscape on Windows and am new to the iOS and Mac environment.

I have Inkscape 0.48.2 installed on my Mac.
I've searched on forums and realised I need to install XQuartz to get Inkscape to work.

I've downloaded XQuartz 2.7.5 dmg and tried to install by clicking on it (default installer). I get an error message that says 'The disk images couldn't be opened, the reason given ' not recognised'. I have a screen shot of the error messages but my file is too big to be attached here.

If anyone here can help me it would be most appreciated as I'm unable to figure out what I need to do.

Many thanks,
Cher
