Hello all!
I have read through the documentation but can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong. I have selected a rectangle and want to make the border a red box. However, when I go to object -> fill/stroke, and then click on stroke, the line color doesn't change. I've noticed that the stroke indicator (bottom left) is greyed out on the left and the desired color on the right. I know that if I get the indicator to be fully red, then I've got my red line. But not sure how to do that.
What causes the left side of the line to be grey? How do I correct that?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Jeanette

Re: Help with a really basic question

Welcome Jeanette!
By your description of the stroke indicator, it sounds like the stroke is transparent. Go to the Fill and Stroke dialog > Stroke Paint tab, and check the A slider. It should be all the way to the right, with a value of 255. If that seems to be set correctly, look further down in the dialog at the Opacity slider. It should be also all the way to the right, and with a value of 100.00.
Let us know if that fixes the problem

Hi.
A small useful trick when things go "awry" - open the XML editor Shift + Ctrl + X to have a look at your object.
Here all the properties for your object will be listed.
Good Luck

Oh, thank you *so* much - the A slider was at zero. Huge help!
