Book of Kells carpet page for adult coloring book

Obviously, I still need to fill in the big white spaces.

Here's a detail from the right side.

Here is a low-res version of the image upon which my drawing is based. My version is meant to be an interpretation of this artwork, not a completely faithful reproduction.

Didn't want to make you load a 5MB file, but here is a high-res image of the same original artwork:

This is for an adult coloring book I am illustrating.

Wow! I might need to "pick your brain" about publishing coloring books. I'm working on a project to make coloring books, using Inkscape to make the line drawings. The idea would be to donate any profits back to the Inkscape project.

I'm not very good at hand sketching, but I absolutely love making abstract geometric designs. And Inkscape is perfect tool! (http://inkscapecommunity.com/ic_gallery ... p?album=55) Hopefully I can find others to contribute some line drawings.

That's an amazing amount of work! Aren't you having any performance issues with Inkscape? Just 1 comment. I wonder if your drawing might be too detailed? Unless the pages will be much larger than 8.5 x 11"? Is this going to be a large book? I mean maybe like a coffee table size book?

Well, first, not every picture is this detailed. Second, many adult coloring books have very fine detail like this! And third, it IS a work in progress, after all; if it seems too finely detailed when I print it, I can always modify it. Thanks forte feedback.

I'd be willing to donate a drawing for your project. I'd love to have a chance to give back to the Inkscape project that way!

Would you answer a Private Message from this forum? I just need to learn how to get from "I have a pile of designs" to talking to a publisher. I noticed you mentioned in another message about self-publishing ("micro publishing"). I've heard it's much easier that way. But haven't started researching yet.

Have you noticed what kind of designs are more popular for adult colorers? I never have thought about recreating designs that already exist (except for the kind of designs that occur in nature). Do they seem to be more popular? Well, maybe you haven't noticed. I was just wondering.

I also noticed that you vary the widths of your lines. Does that seem to make a difference for popularity or sales? I mean, I can see how it enhances a drawing of course. But if people are coloring in the spaces....well....I guess if attracts them to the design, it probably does help.... I'll have to try it :D

Coloring books for adults are great. I've found very useful app yesterday - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.goodsofttech.coloringforadults :D
I hope you'll like it.
Enjoy and have nice relax time!
