I'm trying to cut text 8.5" in high but it comes out at 6.5". What settings do I need to use?
Using inkcut & ubuntu 10.10.

Hi ramb,
Image
Welcome to the forum!

I'm not terribly familiar with cutters/plotters, but wanted to say welcome. Also, it might be helpful to say what kind of cutter machine that you're using.

To my (very limited) knowledge, as long as the text is the size you want when you look at it in Inkscape, it should cut that size. So from the Inkscape side, double-check that the text is the size you want.

I suppose it would be possible that the text looks like the right size, but for some reason has an extremely wide stroke. This would make it look much bigger than it actually is. Let us know if you need help sorting out the stroke and stroke width (or consult Help menu > Inkscape manual (needs internet connection)).

If it checks out the proper size, then someone more familiar with your machine will have to help :D

Hi I've got a CraftRobo which I cut to directly from Inkscape and a Gazelle, but I convert the files for cutting for this machine.

I've just done a quick test cutting text to my CR and the text cut exactly the size I set it to in Inkscape. Silly question maybe but are you changing the units of measurement to inches, locking the aspect ratio and then changing the size to the height you want it to be?
