Imported bitmap looks like blurred

Postby Fanda@CZ » Sat Jan 21, 2012 11:58 pm

Hi, I can not find answer for this: If I import bitmap, it looks like blurred.

I am using inkscape for webdesign and would import some bitmaps into image. But on one computer non-sharpness is everytime (1GB ram), an on another, at first it looks good, but if I resize page size by draving dimensions (document properties), bitmap quality goes down. On undo it is ok again. On some bitmap moving sometimes goes wrong also.

I am using last stable windows version, and, of cource, 100% zoom. :-) I was carefull to put bitmap on position of integers.

Do you have some tips, please?
Thank you.

Welcome to InkscapeForum!

Hhhmmm.....as I read your message, one by one, you eliminated all the reasons I think might cause this problem, lol. If you resize the page, you might have to reposition the raster image on the integer value. But I don't know why it might display properly on one system, but not on a system with less RAM.

Even though you are placing the raster image on the integer value, unless you are using snapping, you might not be getting it precisely in the proper position. You could try using Extensions menu > Modify Path > PixelSnap. It will automatically place the raster image precisely on the integer value. (Or use snapping in the first place.)

If that doesn't work, then I'm stumped. I'll keep fingers crossed Image

Thank you for welcome. :-)
I was trying all the things, and included bitmaps still looks blurred. But, at the end, I did try to export final bitmap again and it was ok. I found, inkscape probably just optimizes bitmap rendering. So, what helps was snapping bitmap image to grid (position/dimensions), or set its values on integers. Grid is excellent helper for webdesing. :-)
