Hello,
simple question...
how do you draw "sketchy" lines in inkscape, lines that look they've been smudged or actually drawn by a pencil?
thanks

Re: sketchy lines
Hi.
There are various live path effect possibilities, and also filter effects.
For practical reasons I would suggest to use a simple pattern along path lpe.
There is a sketch lpe as well but that can produce thousands of nodes pretty soon, so better try it out on smaller objects.

Re: sketchy lines
Hi thanks for the thoughts...
I looked at sketch it up and some of those drawings are exactly what I'm talking about...some are very "sketch" like and I'm still not clear how that's done...
I guess I'm not sure what /how to use "live path effects" and which "filter effects" you're talking about.
perhaps you could be more specific?
I appreciate it.

Re: sketchy lines
I used the pattern along path lpe on my works there mostly.
It's like you draw the shape you want to be used as "pencil strokes", copy it to clipboard,
then use the freehand/pencil tool with the pattern from clipboard setting.
The original shape is mapped from left to right, in a horizontal line.
The left part will be at the stroke's starting.
Smoothing can also be set as much as you want. I use about 37%.
The live path effects can be accessed through a panel too, by the bottom of the path menu (Shift+Ctrl+7 is the key shortcut, though it seems to be broken on my end.).
I'm not good on filter effects. They are raster based, and the rendering lacks and it is a painful try and error thing in general.

Hi.
Select path
Apply Path effects (Shift Ctrl 7)
Click the plus sign to add effect
Select Sketch
Adjust the variables to suit your drawing.
