I've been working on a map for the Battle of Monte Cassino article in Wkipedia and I've been getting an odd result once the file is uploaded. I have used a dotted line with ArrowEnd1Sstart End Marker to denote the movement of military units on the map. Trouble is, when the file is uploaded, the end markers come out reversed and horizontal (ie lose the orientation current in the svg file). So I tried reversing the arrows and indeed they reverse in the Wikipedia rendering (so are now "correct" but still stubbornly stay horizontal). I'm attaching the svg file with the end marker arrows the 'wrong ' way round but correctly oriented and you can find the odd rendering here: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File: ... rth_en.svg (unless it's just a function of how my installation of Firefox is working!).
Any ideas what is happening here and how I can fix it?
PS. I've worked round the problem by not using end markers but attaching a separate arrow icon so if you want to see the problem, when you follow the link to Wikipedia don't look at the current image (which is the work-around) but scroll down to the history and click on the old one. (There's some interesting history including some classic wobbles caused by flow text that had crept into an icon I had borrowed and which caused great black blobs across the image. Another thread here on converting flow text was helpful in this context). I'd still like to know what is going on with the end markers though!

I can't help you with the marker problem, but no worries, someone else should be along shortly
But I just want to say, that's an awesome image -- very good work there!

I probably can't help all that much, but I do remember this being an issue in the past - I think something to-do with the svg spec being ambiguous, so the different svg renderers all have different behaviours - not helpful.
As a work around, you can always convert do: stroke to path in Inkscape.
