Cannot reach launchpad from China

Postby Jelle » Fri Sep 14, 2012 12:54 pm

From Chongqing China, I cannot get into the launchpad bug tracker due to time-out issues. Blame it one the GCF and the NSA, adding both 900 ms to my latency.

However, the current v 0.48.3.2 stable branch win32 I've installed has some issue I'd like to report on. Can anyone forward these issues to the launchpad for me.

Issue #1:
- deleting a text string makes the screen lose focus and the document you work on jumps to a whole page view. Very nasty bug I'd say.

Issue #2:
- Inkscape messes up my relative paths during saves and during copy and paste operations. My "../path/file.ext" becomes "file:\%dirname%\../path/file.ext" etc. It makes creating websites a bit of a hassle. Now I'm used to using notepad++ in unison with Inkscape, but this needs to get fixed for the average user (and me). Why can't you people leave them poor pathnames alone! Ehm,.. I think there was an option to use relative pathnames in 0.48.2, can we get it back?

Does not exist.

Not true (Inkscape 0.48.2 - and for that matter any release from the stable 0.48.x branch - also defaults to (and rewrites) absolute paths for linked bitmap images - it's been like this since Inkscape 0.47).

The next major version (0.49) will use relative paths for images located in the same directory as the SVG file, or within a sub-directory (see also here).

Please provide more details - could this possibly be limited to 'Flowed text' (deleting the string might trigger a text reflow), and only occur if you are zoomed in close enough that the text frame is larger than the currently displayed portion of the canvas, and only within the text tool context? Else please provide exact steps to reproduce (possibly with a sample SVG file) if you wish that someone here from the forum volunteers to file the report @launchpad for you…

Sorry - I'm aware that it was not a really helpful comment, and I'm also aware that you probably wanted to refer to the second build for Windows of Inkscape 0.48.3.1 (Inkscape-0.48.3.1-2.exe).

Build versions for specific platforms are based on the identical Inkscape sources (0.48.3.1) but may have differences e.g. in the library versions used to compile the binary, or the packaging routines used to create the installer.

Recently, comments about versions had sparked endless confusion, hence my nitpicking here…
