Set lenght and angle of line with belzier curve tool

Postby madscientist » Thu Mar 27, 2014 11:21 am

Hello folks,

This is my first post after some time using this amazing software. I've used it for so many things, even for presentations!
But, back to the topic, I still can't do some drawings because when I click on the belzier curve and straight lines tool, my drawings are not perfect aligned and with exact angles.
What I was looking for is the same feature of some CAD softwares, that you click and type the length of the line that you want, the angle, etc, at the time of creation of the drawing.
I hope you understand what I'm saying.
So, any ideas on how can I do that?

Thanks in advance!

Hi.

What you want is possible using Inkscape.

Click and hold down on one of the rulers, drag towards the canvas.

You now have a "guide" on your canvas. Double click the rule to set the angle.
You can then use snapping to snap to the guide.

Another way to get a line of a certain length is to draw it either vertical or horizontal and then select it using F1,
then set the height or width in the object properties. You can then rotate it at any angle you want.

A lot of users (me included) have requested more CAD like tools to enable chamfers, bevels, lengths etc.
Hopefully the developers are listening, they have done a tremendous job so far!
