Remembering "tabs" or "windows"

Postby tkozak » Wed Feb 23, 2011 10:32 pm

Longtime user of inkscape, use it for basically everything.
One thing that has always bothere d me though is that every time I open the program I have to reset the interface "tabs" I have open (I believe tabs is the correct term in this case). For instance, for normal use I essentially always want the fill/stroke dialog tab and the layers tab open, perhaps one or two others.

Is there a way to get Inkscape to remember this, or perhaps to set a default state when the software is opened? Searching around I found a few old bug reports from 0.46 or so referring to a "not remembering tabs" bug but that was resolved long ago.

I use inkscape on machines with several OS at work and at home:Windows XP, 7, as well as Ubuntu. The behavior is the same across all of these.

Thanks in advance for any advice/help you can give :)

Inkscape currently doesn't save UI across sessions. This is because we use an old version of the library that provides docks. We intend to clean up this mess though.

Thanks for the response. This would be a very cool feature so I hope we can see it in 0.49 or further in the future.
