Joining/Filling objects (climate map)

Postby davoush » Fri Sep 19, 2014 4:47 am

Hello,

I am trying to create a climate map, (like the koppen climate map), in which each shaded area represents a different climate. I'm not quite sure how to go about doing this using inkscape.

I have the continent coastlines ready, but how do I draw each climate area without spaces between each one? (In this case, it is similar to drawing country boundaries - one boundary line serves to differentiate between 2 or more areas). Some climate areas will also be bounded by the coastline.

I then need to fill each object with a different colour representing the different climates. Is inkscape suitable for this job?

Thanks.

Remember, proud brothers... everything is possible...

If the filling paths overlap eachother you can have the cleanest result.

If those would be next to eachother, sharing parts of segments, even if all segments are straight, anti-aliasing can mess up exporting a bit.
Which can be switched off in the devbuild (?).
But if one of a curved segment would start with a node on the middle of the other one, it cannot be totally accurate.

Oh and don't forget to use clipping too.
