I'm using a Macbook Pro with Yosemite (10.10.3).
I'm having serious problems with my Bezier Tool:
When I set the Bezier Tool to Spiro it creates either completely straight lines or interprets the slightest rounding as a section of a circle. That is, if I draw a line curved in zig-zagged manner, it displays as completely rounded--like an O or partial O--very dissimilar to the line I drew. UNLESS I click on "remove path effects", then it shows the line as I created it.
If I draw with the shape set to "From clipboard, Triangle in or Triangle out" It draws the curves in the same circle or straight manner but defaults to no line with a fill (the fill is under the semi-circle). If I remove the path effects it conforms to the line I drew but keeps the fill/no line setting. I can manually set it to line/no fill but I want it to default to that.
"Path Effects/Pattern Along Path" with the source being the clipboard simply doesn't work.
If I use the menu option of "Extensions/Generate from Path/Pattern along Path (being careful to remove path effect(s) from both the source and the Bezier Curve" it applies the pattern in straight lines without curving to match my drawn lines. This doesn't go away if I then select "Remove Path Effect" from the drop down manual.
I don't know if it's because I'm not using the right search words but I can't find anyone else with this problem and don't seem to see it in the manual. I reinstalled Inkscape and it still has the problem. Any ideas?
Bezier Curves Problems
Re: Bezier Curves Problems
Hi.
That is how the spiro-path lpe supposed to work.
Maybe it is confusing that you can apply the effect automatically in the pen and pencil tools, just by toggling in an icon in the toolbar?
The triangle in/out options, from 0.91 are implemented with powerstroke lpe, while the pattern from clipboard is still using pattern along path lpe.
You say that you want to draw a curved path but the result is a straight segment with a spiro lpe.
Fact is, spiro paths get "circular" if the nodes are set to be smooth, otherwise they are straight.
Meaning a 2-noded path segment cannot be curved with cusp nodes.
Would suggest to work in regular path mode.

Change the X11 Pasteboard settings as depicted on the download page, and read this FAQ about known incompatibilities with the system clipboard under X11/XQuartz.
