windows 8 and inkscape

Postby sipoi » Sat Oct 12, 2013 8:44 am

Hi

I am going to buy a new computer / laptop. I have been using a mac but am going to get a PC this time (my last PC was a few years ago and ran vista). Inkscape has become the programme I use more than anything else so I thought it would be wise to ask about functionality with windows 8 before I buy something.

I have no interest in touch screens and want to work with the mouse a keyboard. I have read the windows 8 reviews and know it is not great with a mouse, but I assume it is fine with a mouse once you are within inkscape?

Most new systems have 8 but I can easily get a windows 7 system if that would be better.

Do any of you use windows 8? Does it run inkscape well?

Thanks for any advice Dan

Hi.

I have used inkscape under win7 and sadly now it runs under win8.
I didn't experienced a notable difference between the two.
But win8 seems messed up. If you can choose, better get win7 instead.

Thanks for the reply.

I should have also asked if it matters is a pc is 32 or 64 bit?

There is no 64bit version of inkscape yet, so it doesn't matters too.
No matter how fast your pc is, you cannot benefit all the possibilities of it in inkscape.
