Hello,
I am a newbie and have been self learning inkscape for almost 2 months. I love to be able to create things in inkscape. I hope to learn how to create the attached swirl pattern using filtering. I tried to search youtube (I am a visual learner) about filtering but there's not many. Hope for your guidance.
How to create this swirl pattern with filtering?

Re: How to create this swirl pattern with filtering?
Hi.
While filtering is the jolly joker of procedural textures in inkscape, making one to generate an exact match is out of the scope of the current filter primitives.
Also you are limited by the renderer and the colour profile used in the process.
Having said these, something similar can be achieved, but hardly an exact match.
With a generated fractal noise you can distort another turbulence, and map a few set colours atop of them all.
Was once trying to make a cookbook and svg filtering, with gui suggestions to the dev team, can't really point to a tutorial at the moment.
Will give that texture a try.
Edit:
Quick and dirty example here.
The colours could be adjusted in a longer filter chain but the "pixelation" will be present -or blurred out.
The distortion is pretty much limited by the noise used. In the svg specs there is only one specified as far as I know.
Theoretically you could use a raster image for the distortion effect but being the image to be distorted is a simple gradient it doesn't really worth it.
