How to separate shapes made by Boolean difference so I can colour them separately?

I created these shapes using the difference Boolean operation. I'd like to fill their colours separately but two of them take the same colour together. I've already applied the ungroup and break apart operations, to no effect. Thanks.

Perhaps you're looking for Path -> Break apart ?

Path > Break apart isn't working for some reason.
