sounds interesting, how do you even try it? I don't see any filter or extension in in the menus?

Hi dimmern you will have to give us much more info for us to help you, but I think that by the time you draw us a picture of what you want to do, you will have done it, if you know what I mean. in other words, some ideas are so specific, that designing them takes as long as doing them... Well, that does not sound very clear either... Maybe I am just confusing you more...
Your mind is what you think it is.

Arrgggh! I thought I answered this yesterday, but I see that my reply didn't take for some reason (probably on my end, lol)

There's a tutorial in the Inkscape manual which will give you some of the basics for doing this. But you will have to adapt it to your needs. Here's a link: Basics - Help menu > Tutorials
Manual -
Inkscape: Guide to a Vector Drawing Program
Inkscape Community - Inkscape FAQ - Gallery
Inkscape for Cutting Design

maybe the envelope and band path effects would work? This is a lot easier in CorelDraw but maybe after you did the first one you could use the Paste Path Effect to do others?

Try using the node sculptor tool :tool_tweak: to pull the text path into the shape you want.

here was a real quick go at something similar...

i think in the end the best possible output (with least resistance) would be generated by using a fully capable raster program like Gimp to create the initial art, and then convert to vector. This has it's drawbacks but i think will produce the best result for you. There's also other programs that do this kind of thing and nothing else. The generic kind of name for this sort of effect is a mesh warp, i believe.
