Stroke

Postby Horse*Crazy » Sat Jul 19, 2014 9:36 pm

I'm new at this and sorry if this has been asked already. I'm having major problems formatting things into inkscape when I try to format a graphic.
Step #1 File import graphic from desktop
Step#2 Edit make a bitmap
Step#3 Remove the first layer keep the second layer
Step# 4 Path trace bitmap
Step #5 Update click ok
Step #6 Delete old graphic keep new one
Step #7 File, Save as eps
Step #8 Open up my plotter go into import and when I open it up nothing is there?

What am I doing wrong. I think it's something with the stroke? How do I set my stroke to black as a default? It's almost as if it's white as a default not recognizing my graphic?

Often plotters (and various kinds of cutting machines - paper, wood, metal, etc.) have very specific requirements for the drawings that will be used in them. I was just trying to help someone the other day, where their machine (I think it was a laser engraver) required the stroke to be 0.001 px. Sometimes, if the object has a fill, the machine won't recognize it. I read about another....I don't remember what kind of machine it was, but it required the stroke to be certain colors. And I've seen several different kinds of requirements like that.

So I would suggest consulting the documentation for your plotter, to find out what it needs.

Here's a tutorial I wrote for setting your tools' styles: http://forum.inkscapecommunity.com/inde ... article=15
