To draw a shape from the start.

Hello , I want to draw a shape (eg, a circle or rectangle ) from the start. I press the Shift key , but it does not. I run Windows 7 and my laptop is Asus.
English is not my native language, thank you very much to answer me with everyday words . :)

You press the Shift key, and then what do you do?

Il tried again, and il works ... for circle and rectangle. But for the star, it does the same thing, with or without the Shift pressed. Il suppose il is ok ?
