Hello all. Nice forum and it has been fun to look through it for the last hour or so. What lead me here is I am having trouble getting InkScape to output a clean SVG file of just plain text. Here is what I have done so far with versions listed below. Thanks in advance for any help I can receive from the community.
Open InkScape, type a few lines of text, group text lines, go to File > Export Bitmap, load saved (exported) Bitmap and Path > Trace Bitmap then save as an SVG file. Something I am doing is degrading the quality of the SVG file. I am attaching 2 images for review, one of the original typed in text using InkScape and one of the outputted SVG. You can clearly see the differences between the 2 images.
What I am wanting to do is type in 3 straight lines of text and save them as a crisp SVG and am probably makng this process much more difficult than t needs to be. Can anyone give me a helping hand on this? Thanks again.

Hi ATMA,

Welcome to InkscapeForum!
After you type your text in Inkscape, just Save As SVG, and there is your crisp SVG file! Based on your reported steps, there appears to be no need to export to PNG and then trace to convert back to SVG. It's already SVG when you type it the first time.

Re: Getting Clean Text As An SVG
Thanks Brynn and I am glad to be here.
I had tried your suggestion before asking here but tried again and got what I have shown in the attached image. InkScape acts as though it has saved something but when I import it to SCAL, it is shown as an element but no text is there. I can position, size, move the element but there is no text there. I tried viewing it as a wire frame as much as I can using SCAL but the field within the element is still blank.
I'm very confuzzzzed.

Try converting to path before you export. Path menu>object to path

Well, look at you! That did it and now I can see it in SCAL. Thanks a bunch and off I go to play.
