AI file without PDF content

Hello, I have Inkscape 0.91 on Win7.

I open this AI file with Inkscape but I only get this content:

This is the original file, and I expect it to be working (it should contain a few textures):

The file has no PDF content for Inkscape to open. Not much we can do without Adobe® Illustrator®.

Maybe another member can convert the file.

This is an Adobe® Illustrator® saved
without PDF content .
To place or open this file in other
applications, you must save it back to
Adobe Illustrator with Create PDF file
Compatible activated . Is
option in the dialog box options
Illustrator native format , which appears to
save a file from Adobe Illustrator with the command
Save as.

I was able to convert the ai file into svg. Doing anything with it, is another matter. Inkscape seems to be overloaded by the file. Even in outline mode.

It's big, but seems to work on a fast computer.

Well i tried isolating the individual patterns, by cutting and pasting into a new file with the outline mode activated.
There is a lot of ungrouping (groups within groups is something that IS does a lot) and unclipping to do.
Its pretty tedious.
