Printing whole image issue

Postby Agent109 » Mon Apr 28, 2014 4:39 am

Hi community,

I'm new to Inkscape's forums, but I've been using Inkscape for 5 years now and never had an issue like I do now. I have my images and shapes and figures ready to print, I created my own Triforce from The Legend of Zelda, and put red glow for the top triangle, blue for the left and green for the right. It looks beautiful with a link.png, Zelda.png, and Midna&LinkWolf.png. I also have a nice fire.png image, water.png image and leave.png images. I made custom shadows over the characters which are at the very top. So with all that said, when I print it, it's prints the top corner red glow ONLY. The triforce isn't there, and nothing else is printing but the fuzzy red that looks like spray paint. Any help on what to do? I use a Canon MG5422 as my printer. Please help!

With Regards,

Hi!

Try to save as a pdf and print outside inkscape.

When I do, it removes blurs, which is the most important part of my inkscape project. Transparency is still there, but blurs return to 0 on everything and it looks pretty bad. After I print it, I'll add a link so you can see how it's actually supposed to look like. :) It's actually a sticker for my sister for her Birthday tomorrow. :) She's a big fan of The Legend of Zelda

There is a save option to rasterize filters.
If you don't thick it, there won't be any blurs in your pdf.

But as it is for a sticker, you could probably go fine by exporting to a png at a reasonable resolution and use it for printing.

Good luck, and happy birthday for your sister!

I'm not really sure how the entire exporting thing works out and that stuff. I just use basics in Inkscape. Rasteroze filters and words like that kind of confuse me. I know I can save it as png, but it stays at low dpi and is very pixelated. Could you tell me how to rasterize filters and that. And what did you mean by thick it? :) Thanks for answering too, I appreciate your help :)

That option needs to be enabled, and, preferably set a high resolution, like 600 dpi.

Saving as a png would lead to a fixed 72 dpi rasterisation, so the export to png is the right choice for that.
There you can set the area aroun selected object or page, and set the output resolution.

Pdf is more for printing.
You can open and edit pdf files, but they use alot unnecessary clipping and grouping, you may save to svg first and keep it for later if you need to make modifications.

https://imageshack.com/i/nhhzt8j This is the Image. :) I hope you guys can see it. Had to print, then scan it. It came out pretty fuzzy, but just imagine a more clear version of this. :)

Great! So it can be all on time.
Adjusting the scanned image you can use gimp to crop the unecessary parts and enhance the levels by the tone curve option.
