I'm running VISTA Home Premium, do not receive error messages and when I have the
image selected...I would try any/all of the options and get a large "blackboard" up in left corner
and then something smaller would flash, then the image quivers and nothing happens.
I have tried .bitmap, .jpg, and several other file extensions and none will work.
Thanks for your interest in this problem. Bob

Do you mean the Command Prompt?

I don't think that all the Effects can be used on SVG images. Most of them (if not all) are to be used on raster types.....at least I think I've got that right. In any case, I haven't personally figured out how to make them work, and it seems like I finally learned by reading this forum, that they don't work on SVGs.

It's working on paths for me but not imported images.

 Oops, actually, a lot of Effects can be used on SVGs, but now I'm thinking it was one of the other items beside Color, that won't work on SVGs. That's definitely my bad!

When you say you can't get any type of color selection to work, you're talking about Effect menu > Color, right? So you're talking about an object or path that already contains colored fill and/or stroke, that you have selected, and when you click on something in Effects Menu > Color, you get the command prompt, but no changes to your original color. Right? Well, some of those items might not really change the color all that much. Have you tried a lot of different options there, just for troubleshooting? And do none of them cause your color to change?

Thanks brynn for your reply. Yes, I'm using Effects>Color and tried many of the options
listed. From your questions, I determined that an image/photo that is imported, having
color, will not change with any of the options. I drew a rectangle, filled it with color and
every applicable option changed the color.
I found Filter and have been learning how to use it and able to get a grayscale
on an imported picture. Thanks for your help. Bob

Your welcome, Bob.
Although to be fair, EarlyBlake contributed the part about it not working on imported images.
