Help with tracing a bitmap and the SIOX tool

Postby hmx708 » Sat Jun 01, 2013 12:57 am

Hello,

I'm trying to remove the background of images while tracing them in Inkscape. I know this can be done first in GIMP but this is for a classroom activity so I'd like to keep the workflow all in one application. My problem is that when I use the SIOX foreground selection tool I end up with a white rectangle covering my original image. My work flow is this:

1) Draw a line around the area I want to mark as the foreground
2) Select image and line
2) Path->Trace Bitmap
3) I am using the "colors" option
4) Check "Remove background"
5) Check SIOX foreground selection
6) Hit OK

Then I end up with a white rectangle over my image. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

Hi there,

Guess you have to add a fill to that "line".
