I just installed 0.48.1 and cannot get Scatter to work. I had no issues using it 0.47.3. Am I missing something to get it to work in the latest version?

Hi Soc, I am not having any problem with scatter in 0.48.1.

What is the nature of your problem?

Not sure what is going on. I had the same issue with 0.48.0 and ended up uninstalling it and reinstalling 0.47.3. When I run Extensions > Scatter, it seems that Python(?) is not loading for me to generate my object along a path. It just sits there with no error message, etc. I tried using it without preview and the same thing.

Is there something that I have to have checked-off in preferences that might make it work?

It appears that nothing under extensions works for me (pattern along path, etc.). I use a PC with MS XP home edition with all the recent updates. I have uninstalled version 0.47-3, including preferences, and reinstalled 0.48-1. I still cannot get scatter, etc. to work. Do I need to have something checked off? Should I keep my preferences when uninstalling 0.47-3? Any suggestions why this is happening?

What version of Python do you have? I believe that Inkscpe needs Python 2.x. If you have 3.x installed that might be the problem. But it is possible that the latest Inkscape is 3.0 compliant (compatible?) and your problem is something else.

The Windows port of Inkscape 0.48 includes its own python version (2.6.5) and - AFAIU - doesn't explicitly search the system for already installed Python versions.

If Python comes with 0.48.1, why are the extensions not working for me? Should I keep a copy of Python that comes with the 0.47.3 version of Inkscape and add it to the 0.48.1 folder? Yesterday, I uninstalled 0.48.1 and reinstalled 0.47.3 to use scatter. I never checked to see if Python was included in 0.48.1.

You could uninstall Inkscape by deleting the Inkscape folder in Program files, deleting the inkscape folder in c/documents and settings/your name/application data, run a registry cleaner (I use ccleaner) and then reinstall.

I have uninstalled 0.47.3 as per your instructions and ran registry clean-up. Installed Inkscape 0.48.1 and tried using Scatter in Extensions again with no luck. Python does not want to run. Not sure why 0.47 works fine and not 0.48.
