The link I am going to post is NOT my work. I am posting it because it was very inspiring. I can safely say that it is the ULTIMATE attempt at Inkscape realism that *I* have seen yet. I apologize if the artist or someone else already have mentioned their work on the forums.

Wow, that is indeed impressive.
FYI, there are several images posted in this forum as photorealism, which I think are equally as good. (If you haven't seen them already.)

Not so impressive. This is probably one of the most seen ( inkscape works ) on deviantart, but, hey look her skin. Really bad for talking about realism.

Thanks for replying. First, I took a look at other works around by making use of the search option, one of those links to the Yamaha drumset was truly humbling. But, if you are talking about most other attempts at realism in Inkscape, or EVEN Illustrator, people depend on Gradients, Blur and Gradient mesh to achieve that effect.

However, the art I linked to, you will realise, hardly uses any such effects except in a few ornaments and stuff. The artist spent hours doing the work in pure vector style with a single coloured fill for each path or object (if you know what I mean). So, well, I LOVE that style. Of course, it is more of a demonstration about skills and dedication and doesn't make much practical sense to spend hours and MONTHS on doing something so photorealistic if you could simply shoot a photograph... but hey..

How ... how you did it?!
