Creating outlines of logos

Postby Fibbo » Thu Dec 11, 2014 10:30 pm

Hi guys, I have a newb question. I'm trying to take the outline of company logo's so I can 3d print them (the cad software requires an svg of the outline). I'm trying to use the Trace Bitmap command but it comes out really blurry no matter how I configure it. Am I trying to do it wrong should I try an trace it piece by piece with beizer curves? Many thanks.

Trace Bitmap could help if you have big enough bitmap (depends of the complexity, but as close to 1000px as possible would provide better results), where bonus will be if it`s in black&white. Blurs, shadings and similar effects could mess with the proper Trace, but manual trace is The best solution.

Most likely you`d have to fine tune Trace results, while you`ll have the full control from the beginning if you chose to do it by hand.

Full sails!
